Development of The Breds Treasure Beach Sports Park and Community Centre 2009 - 2014
The Breds Sports Park and community centre is located within 15 acres of land purchased by the then member of parliament (S.W St. Elizabeth) Donald Buchanan and leased back to Breds for this purpose.The development of the Sports Park is in 4 Phases
Phase 1 was completed in September 2010. It saw the completion of a bathroom block containing 2 bathrooms with disabled access, 2 locker rooms and storage room. This was made possible through a block drive and generous donations from individuals and companies totalling J$3m.
Phase 2 was completed and formally opened on 12th November 2011 and included
- develepment of 3 cricket squares, cricket grren and 2 football pitches. The main donor for this development was Digicel who donated J$5.7m
- drilling a well for irrigation with funds of J$3.2 million donated by the Social Development Fund (SDF)
- a children play area with playing equipment through funds donated by Laura & Chris Ince.
Phase 4 will be the construction of a centre for use by Breds and the community, car park and final landscaping.
